The crochet Octopus is one of those easy things to make and great to have since they are so darn cute! they make a great key chain, a great little decoration and you could even make many of them and hang them in as a mobile. They can also be great for party favors! You can make them in solid colors or like I did in a yarn that had color changing in it! Either way, hope you enjoy making this little guy! 🙂

Mini Octopus Free Pattern by Sahrit

Skill level: Fun and Easy 🙂

What will you need:

Hook: 3.25mm/D

Two wiggly eyes.

Glue.

key chain.

Yarn: Small amounts of any color yarn. I used  RED HEART® “Super Saver®”

  • 3955 Wildflower.
Abbreviations:
ch chain
sc single Crochet
st stitch
sl st
slip stitch
hdc half double crochet
rep repeat
* rep from *

Instructions

Body

Begin with a magic ring. Here is a link to the tutorial for the magic ring.

Rnd 1: ch 1, 4 sc in ring (Pull tail of yarn). (4 sc)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each of next 4 sc. (8 sc)

Rnd 3: *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc, rep from * 3 more times. (12 sc)

Rnd 4: *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 2 sc, rep from * 3 more times. (16 sc)

Rnd 5 – Rnd 7: 1 sc in each of next 16 sc. (16 sc)

Arms

*Ch 9 plus one starting ch, Sl st in 2nd and 3rd ch from hook, 1 sc in each of next 3 ch, 1 hdc in each of next 4 ch, skip one st from last round in Body, Sl st to next sc, rep from * 7 more times. Fasten off; weave in ends.

With remaning tail left from the magic ring, bring tail through the Key chain, and back through the center of the first round and tie a good knot so the keychain is now in a loop that’s attached to the Octopus

(see picture below).

Glue the wiggly eyes and your done! 🙂
